Uma mulher traduz a primeira página do livro “A Chave de Prata” de H.P. Lovecraft. O seu marido, jornalista, ouve. O livro descreve os conflitos entre o real e o imaginário, e conta como Randolph Carter, interpretado por Robert Kramer, deixa a vida quotidiana à procura dos seus sonhos de infância.
A woman translates the first page of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Silver Key”. Her journalist husband listens. The book describes the conflict between reality and imagination, and tells how Randolph Carter, portrayed by Robert Kramer, leaves everyday life in search of his childhood dreams.

2. Uma Voz Na Noite (9’)

Uma velha mulher (Isabel de Castro) é acordada a meio da noite pelo telefone que toca. Do outro lado da linha, está um desconhecido, que combate a insónia ligando para números ao acaso.
An old woman (Isabel de Castro) is awakened in the middle of the night by the ringing telephone. On the other end of the line is a stranger, fighting insomnia by calling random numbers.

4. O Espelho Lento (23’)

A história de Carla e Marta, a filha que está gravemente doente. Em Barcelona, Carla descobre um espelho especial — é uma porta aberta para o passado: guarda o reflexo por vários anos até o devolver. Carla oferece o espelho à filha, mudando as suas vidas para sempre.
Carla and Marta’s story, a mother and daughter facing a serious illness. In Barcelona, Carla discovers a special mirror — a doorway to the past that preserves what it reflects for several years before returning it. Carla gives the mirror to her daughter, changing their lives forever.

Nesta selecção de curtas-metragens de Solveig Nordlund, o real e o imaginário cruzam-se em quatro histórias inquietantes. Em “Nem Pássaro, Nem Peixe”, uma mulher traduz para português o conto “The Silver Key”, de H.P. Lovecraft, enquanto Randolph Carter — interpretado pelo documentarista Robert Kramer — abandona o quotidiano em busca dos sonhos de infância. Em “Uma Voz na Noite”, Isabel de Castro é uma mulher solitária despertada pelo telefonema de um desconhecido que procura companhia nas horas de insónia. “Journey to Orion” adapta J.G. Ballard numa viagem espacial rumo a Orion. Por fim, “Espelho Lento”, a partir de Richard Zimler, transforma um espelho numa passagem para o passado, alterando para sempre a vida de Carla e da filha. Quatro incursões pelo fantástico, onde tempo, memória e realidade deixam de obedecer às mesmas regras.
In this selection of short films by Solveig Nordlund, reality and imagination intersect in four unsettling stories. In “Nem Pássaro, Nem Peixe” a woman translates H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Silver Key” into Portuguese, while Randolph Carter — played by documentary filmmaker Robert Kramer — abandons everyday life in search of his childhood dreams. In “Uma Voz na Noite”, Isabel de Castro plays a lonely woman awakened by a phone call from a stranger seeking companionship during the sleepless hours. “Journey to Orion” adapts J.G. Ballard in a journey through space towards Orion. Finally, “Espelho Lento” based on Richard Zimler, turns a mirror into a passage to the past, forever altering the lives of Carla and her daughter. Four journeys into the fantastic, where time, memory and reality no longer obey the same rules.
